Modèle de lettre à envoyer aux sénateurs canadiens, aux ministres canadiens :

"Dear Senator, Dear Ministers

According to the following statement, Senators should be representing the public opinion of Canadians:
"Senate committees hear many more witnesses than the House of Commons committee system,
allowing Canadians to be heard and have a say in government decisions."
http://sen.parl.gc.ca/SenWeb/committees/?lang=en&sen=57

I know from personal polls that there is virtually nobody in my personal demographic range that is not sickened, outraged and deeply disturbed by the Commercial Canadian Seal Hunt. I also know from various polls such as IFAW that in BC and Quebec 72% of the population are opposed to the seal hunt, some strongly opposed, some not sure and some in favor. In Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario polls hover around 65%. In the Atlantic regions such as Nova Scotia, P.E.I. and New Brunswick polls are around 50 - 60% opposed. Even in Newfoundland itself only half of the population supports the largest marine mammals slaughter on the planet.

According to the DFO website, obviously flawed and biased due to the strong influence of Ministers from rural Atlantic Villages and Sealing Communities, 65% of the population is in favour of the Seal hunt.

EVEN with the polls from the very own branch of Federal Government that is supported to run its own propaganda they are only able to claim 65 % IN FAVOUR. How then is it possible that a Senate, responsible to the entire population of Canada are responding to roughly 1% of the Canadian population and outright opposing the remaining 99% the public and their tax dollars? How is it possible that only 1% of the Senate, Senator Harb, is attempting to represent the 50 - 72% of the population who is diabolically opposed to the Seal Hunt.

This is not livelihood you are supporting. This is not a rural community life style you are supporting by being opposed to ending this very unnatural slaughter of two week old babies. This is a political decision based on loyalties to a minority of people.

We have created a false economy and continue to destroy wildlife and habitat in order to tell ourselves we are working a hard day.
Work should support our lives as well as being in balance with the community and with the natural surroundings. As Canadians, we came here several hundered years ago to a beautiful land where wildlife flourished, animals lived in peace and the only humans here had a reverence for the lives they stole. These European descendents in their greed hastily began taking the lives of beavers, otters, seals, fish and any other natural substance available until many species were virtually decimated. This philosophy of living remains strong in the rural communities of Atlantic Canada. This land is our land and this land is their land. This land belongs the trees, forests and oceans first and the Canadian Citizens second. Instead rural Eastern Canada continues to exploit every possible species for the sake of greed and money. It is time that ALL Canadians find new ways to make a living that does not include bludgeoning, shooting or skinning innocent creatures to death.

We have one of the poorest records of developed nations for Environmental Habitat. Now the USA with President Obama is finally taking steps to truly take care of its people by taking care of the land that supports them. Obama has done more to protect habitat in the few weeks he has been in office than Canada has ever done. He has taken steps to protect Polar Bears and Whales and created support for protecting sanctuary's and habitat reserves. Even the USA with right wing Presidents such as Mr. Bush had banished seal products over 20 years ago. We are literally living in an ice age here in Canada.

I would like to see us move forward, out of this deficiency and apathy of action for our world, our habitat, our wildlife and ultimately our people.

When Senator Harb brings another motion to pass Bill S-229 I hope there will at least be a seconder. If not I see we truly have no democratic process left in this country. And that is a frightening thought.

Sincerely,

Modèle de lettre a envoyer aux députés européens :

"Dear European Parliament Official,

I am forwarding my letter to the Canadian Senator discussing my outrage that not one person seconded a motion introduced by Senator Mac Harb. He is the first man in Canadian History to bring up a bill to be passed to end the Seal Hunt. I feel that everybody else in Parliament is scared to show any support for this bill as their appears to be a majority of Atlantic Province and Senator's and Ministers from Sealing communities. It appears as if there is almost a taboo to vote against this. Although less than 1% of citizens are actually involved in Sealing there is a disproportianate amount of subsidies and props that are given to these small communities.

I hope you will take the time to read through Senator Harb's Website ( http://sen.parl.gc.ca/SenWeb/welcome/?lang=en&sen=57 ) and listen to what he has to say about the Seal Hunt. I believe that if you do not trust me as a Canadian Citizen and obviously somebody who is deeply opposed to the seal hunt, you will be able to trust the advice and experience of this Senator. He is a courageous man for standing in front of 103 Senator's that stood in complete silence at his request.

I feel he could really use your support right now and that your encouragement for the Canadian Senate and government to take responsibility for this highly emotional and unpopular event would be an asset to everybody.

As you can also see from his website, Senator Harb has no intention of leaving these rural communities without help. He is suggesting a $1 Billion dollar adjustment fund for a transition away from sealing. How could anybody argue with this?

Thank you for your time and your concern,
Sincerely,

PRENOM, NOM
