President of the International Olympic Committee,
China's decison to clear the capital of tis stray cats as a part of a sweeping Olympic facelift . generates negative publicity worldwide. Global media persistently condemns this inhumane and cruel mass culls.
If the brutal killing continues, it will irreversibly shame China and the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
I implore you to halt all cat massacres. These shocking death camps are crude and are nothing less than torture.
Please recognize the growing number of Chinese households with companion animals. Some who opt to remain childless, or aged citizens who live alone, view cats as companions or "children."
I ask you to foster a culture of responsible guardianship, disease prevention, and humane education in keeping with 21st century animal welfare principles.
